Providencia stuartii strain:CMC-4104 | isolate:CMC-4104 Genome sequencing

A rare multidrug-resistant (MDR) clinical strain of Providencia was isolated from a patient at the Carilion Medical Center, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, Virginia. It was identified as a difficult-to-treat resistance (DTR) strain because of its resistance to all first-line antimicrobials, including newer generation combinational antibiotics such as carbapenem or cephalosporin with beta-lactamase inhibitors. In this study, whole genome sequencing of this clinical isolate using Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencing methods was performed in an effort to identify the genetic mechanisms for its extensive multi-drug resistance.
