WMS Biosphere Area

Biosphere areas are areas to be protected and developed in a uniform manner that: 1. are large-scale and characteristic of certain cultural landscapes with rich natural features, 2. meet in essential parts the requirements of a nature reserve, moreover predominantly of a landscape conservation area, Serve primarily the conservation, development or restoration of a landscape characterised by manifold uses and the diversity of species and biotope that has grown therein, including wild and previous forms of culture of economically used or usable animal and plant species; 4. serve exemplary the development and testing of economic practices which are particularly gentle on natural goods; and 5. environmental education and education, ecological research and long-term environmental monitoring.
