This dataset is derived from the simulation and experimental sections of the paper “Optimization of a dual-end readout bar-shaped scintillator detectors for Compton imaging.” It provides all reproducible data supporting the optimization analysis of the dual-end readout configuration for bar-shaped scintillator detectors. The dataset consists of two major categories—Monte Carlo simulation data and experimental measurement data—corresponding to Figures 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, and 10 in the paper, and is organized into six data folders. All data are stored in CSV format to facilitate straightforward access using common data analysis tools.The data for Figures 3 and 4 were generated through Monte Carlo simulations performed using the Geant4 software framework. The simulations were conducted to investigate the light-output distribution characteristics of different bar-shaped scintillators. Each figure contains four scatter plots that are stored individually as CSV files. The folders fig3_data and fig4_data each include four files (e.g., fig3(a).csv, fig3(b).csv), and each file contains two columns representing the x and y coordinates of the scatter points. The number of records in each file depends on the statistical sampling of simulated particles.The data for Figure 6 originate from experimental measurements and are used to validate the reliability of the Monte Carlo simulation results. The experiment employed a dual-end readout bar-shaped scintillator detector system, and measurements were conducted on different scintillator samples. The folder fig6_data contains four CSV files, corresponding to four measurement positions. Each file includes two columns of scatter data (x, y).Figure 8 contains two sets of data for analyzing responses at different irradiation positions. In the folder fig8_data, the data for fig8(a) consist of measurements aggregated from 11 positions, and thus the folder includes 11 CSV files, each containing two columns of scatter data. For fig8(b), which presents the final position-resolution results for multiple measurement points, the dataset includes nine CSV files.Figure 9 presents the position-resolution curves for different scintillator samples. The folder fig9_data includes four CSV files, each containing four columns: position x, corresponding signal y, the upper limit of the error bar, and the lower limit of the error bar.The data for Figure 10 are used to analyze energy spectra. The folder fig10_data includes five CSV files for fig10(a), each containing two columns representing the channel number and the corresponding counts. For fig10(b), the folder contains one CSV file with two columns summarizing the energy-resolution results at multiple measurement points.All CSV files in this dataset represent complete output data without omissions. The dataset can be directly accessed using standard software such as Excel, Origin, MATLAB, and Python (e.g., via the pandas library), without requiring any specialized tools.
