A series of zerovalent
osmium carbonyl complexes have been treated
with Lewis acids GaCl3 and Ag+ to gauge their
Lewis basicity. Additionally, comparisons are made between these osmium
compounds and analogous iron and ruthenium carbonyl complexes by transfer
reactions. This allows direct comparison of the group 8 carbonyl complexes
to each other and the establishment of a trend of their Lewis basicity.
