COVID-19 Puebla EEG Database: Electroencephalographic Signals of Post-COVID Subjects from Puebla, Mexico

This dataset contains electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings acquired from 26 adult volunteers from Puebla, Mexico, who previously suffered COVID-19 infection and presented persistent symptoms associated with post-COVID condition. The database was created due to the lack of publicly available EEG repositories focused on neurological and cognitive alterations related to COVID-19. The recordings were obtained using a KT88-2400 acquisition system manufactured by Contec Medical Systems under resting-state conditions. Signals were sampled at 200 Hz during 10-minute sessions using a 1–50 Hz band-pass filter with a rectangular window configuration. The acquisition protocol replicated the methodology described in the Normal Multivariate Time Series (NMT) database to facilitate future comparative analyses between healthy and post-COVID subjects. Participants were recruited in Puebla City, Puebla, Mexico, and evaluated through a questionnaire designed to identify persistent symptoms and relevant clinical information. Symptoms considered included memory impairment, concentration problems, fatigue, muscular alterations, headaches, insomnia, vertigo, anxiety/depression, respiratory fatigue, and loss of taste or smell, among others. The dataset includes demographic information such as age, sex, number of COVID-19 infections, presence of chronic diseases, persistent symptoms count, and self-reported memory alterations. Subjects ranged from 21 to 65 years old. This repository is intended for research in biomedical signal processing, EEG analysis, neurological assessment, machine learning, cognitive impairment analysis, and post-COVID condition studies.
