The Global Local Climate Zone (LCZ) Map is a 100 m-resolution world map of local climate zones. The is derived from multiple earth observation datasets of land cover and buildings and is composed of 10 built and 7 natural landscape types established by expert and crowd-sourced classification along with machine learning approaches. LCZ is intended for use as an indicator of local urban design with relevance for urban heat island identification.
