The goal of the study is to understand the mechanisms of osmotolerance mechanisms existing in extreme halophilic microorganisms. On evolutionary perspective, the extreme halophilic archaea would have evolved with the unique mechanisms by which they can adapt to even saturated salt concentrations. The study would unravel the bases of the mechanisms of osmotolerance in this group of organisms.
