Metabolic adaptation to host acetate facilitates oxidative stress resistance and intracellular survival of Neisseria meningitidis in macrophages

Neisseria meningitidis utilizes host acetate to develop oxidative stress resistance by upregulating the oxidative stress response genes. In presence of acetate meningococci suppress the macrophage ROS and RNS production to persist longer inside the macrophages.
