miRNA expression profiling of gamma-irradiated A549 cells at 4 h after irradiation

We analyzed the combination of ionizing radiation (IR, 2.0 Gy) along with microRNA-mediated targeting of genes involved in DSB repair to sensitize human non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. We evaluated the extent of miRNA response of NSCLC cells upon irradiation by performing miRNA expression profiling on total RNA extracted at 4h after irradiation. Analyses were carried out in A549 cells that proved to be radioresistant in terms of clonogenic survival when irradiated with the 2 Gy dose, which represents the dose delivered daily in conventional fractionated radiation therapy protocols.
