Spectral mapping of the irregular structured Supernova remnant IC443

PV IC443 is called a middleaged supernova remnant possibly not much olderthan 1000 years with a diameter of about one degree. At least the northeasternsection lies behind a molecular cloud, which gives rise to significantvariations in photoelectrical absoption across the remnant. The remnant containsat least three subshells of significantly different surface brightnessesindicating different evolutionary states.
