资源简介:
Pollen samples were analyzed from two sites in Dunn and Grand Forks
County, North Dakota, to identify paleoenvironmental conditions. Site
32DU179, located a few miles north of the Little Missouri River in the
southwest corner of the Fort Berthold Reservation, was sampled
stratigraphically for pollen. The soil strata were relatively thin at this
site, so a single pollen sample was collected from each stratum. The
stratigraphic record is incomplete, however, as the contacts between several
of the strata were disconformities, representing periods of erosion. The
strata are undated. Site 32GF123 is situated on an alluvial plain near the
confluence of the north and south branches of the Turtle River. Only
cultural levels were sampled for pollen at this site. A radiocarbon age of
7195 ± 115 BP was returned from bone in the upper bone level. Early Archaic
projectile points were also recovered from this level.
