The role of gut-joint axis has been implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). However, the precise temporal relationship between intestinal barrier dysfunction and arthritis onset remains largely unclear. This study aims to determine whether dysregulated intestinal mucosal homeostasis contributes to the development of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in mice and to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of microbial metabolite indole in arthritic progression.
