[IO Islamic 3471] Jâmî's Second Dîwân

A defective copy of the same second dîwân.

This dîwân is wrongly styled on the fly-leaf ديوان جامى جلد سيوم, as if it was the third dîwân; this mistake is simply due to the first page (fol. 1b) actually containing the beginning of the prose-preface of the third dîwân:

بسم الله الرّحمن الرّحيم – طرفه خطابيست ز صفر(!) قديم

But this preface breaks off at the end of the same page (corresponding to fol. 123b, l. 4 ab infra in the following copy), in consequence of a lacuna after fol. 1, and all the rest of the MS. contains the second dîwân, at least from fol. 2b, last line onwards, where a ḳaṣîdah begins: چیست آن شاهد الخ, corresponding to fol. 12b, l. 4, in the preceding copy; fol. 2a opens in the middle of a ḳaṣîdah, having باشد as رديف, which cannot be traced in other copies. The ḳaṣîdas (with one tarkibban) are continued as far as fol. 9b, l. 3 (ending exactly in the same way as the preceding copy); and on fol. 9b, l. 5, the first of the three unalphabetical ghazals begins: انّما الله الخ .

The alphabetical ghazals begin, on fol. 10a: دى گذشتيم الخ. At the end the usual musammaṭ.

Muḳaṭṭa’ât and rubâ’îs, on fol. 128a, beginning:جامى سخن الخ ; one half of fol. 3 and the whole of fol. 138a are supplied by a later hand.
