资源简介:
Samples from the fill of a firepit at site CA-KER-5955 in southwest California were examined
for charred macrofloral remains. Recovery of a class G Olivella bead suggests late prehistoric use
of the site. The site yielded a variety of artifacts, including a probable mortar, flaked stone tools,
mussel shell, fire-affected rock, and Olivella shell artifacts, suggesting that the site might have
served as a base camp. Macrofloral analysis is used to contribute to paleoenvironment and
subsistence information. The various levels in the firepit were sampled separately, which is a very
good sampling strategy for providing evidence of episodic use and feature function.
