Dwarf birch (Betula glandulosa) shrub stature, dendrochronology, and environmental/climate data at Daring Lake, NWT, 2006-2016.

Data were collected in order to assess long-term growth rates and possible expansion (climate-driven or otherwise) of the dominant deciduous shrub, Betula glandulosa, at a site in the Canadian low arctic tundra. The relation of shrub growth to environmental variables (such as moisture and nutrient levels) was also investigated using replicate plots in five different representative habitat-types across the landscape. Additional dendrochronological measurements were used to investigate patterns in annual growth and its potential sensitivity to climate by comparing to data from local climate stations.
