We incorporated leafy species as cover crop rotation during cucumber fallow period under the plastic shed and determined their role in soil properties, microbial structure and ecosystem functions. Illumina high-throughput sequencing of 16S rRNA and ITS rRNA genes characterised bacterial and fungal community structure. The functional annotation and prediction of microbes related to metabolic or other putative ecological functions were estimated based on the Tax4Fun-KEGG, FAPROTAX database and FUNGuild database. Results indicated that plant-specific diverse rotation improved the plastic shed micro-ecological sustainability by promoting beneficial soil biota structure, reducing pathogen abundance and inducing the key ecological functions.
