Pressure behaviour of Jahn-Teller distorted Prussian blue analogues
收藏资源简介:
Jahn-Teller distortions have a large impact on the structure and behaviour of Cu-containing complexes. For example, the Jahn-Teller distortion leads to highly anisotropic compressibility and can even reorient under pressure. This has important consequences, as it changes the dimensionality of the magnetic coupling, and may lead to switching applications. However, little is currently known about the fundamental behaviour of divalent Cu ions under pressure. We will study a series of Cu-containing perovskite-like metal--cyanide frameworks, known as Prussian blue analogue, under compression at the PEARL instrument. Hence, we will investigate how the Jahn-Teller distortions affect the pressure response in the presence and absence of other compression mechanisms, such as structural distortions (octahedral tilting) or large interstitial alkali ions.
