Cyclone Marcia Environmental Recovery of Capricorn Coast Ecosystems #2

Repair and replant areas of remnant vegetation severely damaged by Tropical Cyclone Marcia to restore environmentally significant coastal and creek bank areas that are prone to erosion and weed invasion. The Capricorn Coast includes many sites of environmental significance at the local, regional and national level, including coastal wetlands and sand dune ecosystems. Project sites will be selected on a basis of high environmental value and level of threat by weeds, fire and habitat loss. Management of public access will involve construction of beach access and site fencing. Weed removal will be followed by revegetation using native plants endemic to the site.
