ACM DL Corpus Dataset: A Systematic Mapping Study on Computing Research Involving Dance

The dataset specifically targets the ACM Digital Library, which holds records from 1908 to present and is affiliated with the world’s largest computing society, hosting the journals, magazines, and proceedings of more than 170 conferences and symposia. A query with the word “dancer” was conducted in May 2019, which returned 154 publications: Total number of articles 154 Total number included: 135 Total number excluded: 19 The following research questions provide the framework by which I identify relevant data extraction categories based on the area of inquiry, which is computing research involving dance with a particular focus on research including dancers. RQ1) Who is conducting computing research with dancers? RQ2) Where is dance and computing research happening? RQ3) Does published computing research suggest it impacts the dance field? RQ4) Are dancers directly involved in dance/computing research activities? RQ5) How is the expertise of contributing dancers discussed within computing research publications? RQ6) How are dance forms discussed within computing research publications? RQ7) How are dancers acknowledged for their contributions to computing research?
