Recorded deaths in Portugal by age group, sex, and NUTS-2, 2010-2025

Data reproduce the analyses in Excess mortality attributable to the 2025 Iberian Peninsula blackout (Konstantinoudis & Riou, 2026). Mortality data in Portugal have been retrieved from the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica in Portugal (https://www.ine.pt/), and is made available here. Mortality data in Spain are protected and not available due to can be retrieved after request from the National Centre of Epidemiology at the Carlos III Health Institute (https://sciencemediacentre.es/en/centros-de-investigacion/national-centre-epidemiology-cne). The code to reproduce the analysis is available from https://github.com/jriou/blackout-burden.
