[Dataset] Two chiral types of randomly rotated ommatidia are distributed across the retina of the flathead oak borer Coraebus undatus (Coleoptera: Buprestidae)

Light microscopical sections of the proximal retina of female (D, E) and male (F, G) Coraebus undatus. If the crystalline cone extensions are visible as varicosities between adjacent photoreceptor cells, then it is possible to infer the ommatidial chirality and map the chiral ommatidia accross the section.
