In 2017, approximately 26 percent of the population of Bangladesh used drinking water sources that exceeded recommended arsenic limits to meet their water needs. This toxic element has entered many groundwater sources across that country, exposing approximately 40 million people. Water pollution is an increasing environmental concern around the world, with millions of people living without access to safe water.
