Role of stacking sequence in cross-ply laminates manufactured with ultra-thin plies

This study presents an experimental analysis of three different cross-ply laminates manufactured with ultra-thin plies. The laminates have the same number of 0° and 90° plies but differ in their stacking sequences, resulting in distinct layer thicknesses in each configuration. The objective is to compare the onset and progression of damage and failure among the selected laminates, with particular emphasis on the damage mechanisms occurring within the individual layers in the moments preceding final failure.
