Road nature experience – condition 2013

‘Natural experience on the road’ gives an impression of the ‘green blue’ content in a district seen from the road. This can be used for different purposes. Firstly, as a citizen, you can use them to discover the designated route between two points. This will allow you to set out the greenest (and often healthiest) route to your child’s school. Please note that the card does not take accessibility into account. This can help local administrations to get an idea of which green places could best be opened up to complete a green pathway. This map only refers to green blue, not other factors that may make a route pleasant or unpleasant (congestion, safety, quality of the road, beautiful buildings, etc.). The map shows the percentage of green blue (high green, low green, agriculture and water) in a radius of 20 m around a road. The green blue around the road is assigned to the road itself. In this way, the map gives an indication of the green blue experience at any location situated on a road in Flanders. The analysis is carried out on the basis of the Flemish Green Map (for high green, low green and agriculture), the Grootschaal Reference Bestand (GRB) for Water entity, and the Road Register. All these geodata layers are available openly via Point. High green, low green, agriculture and water are given the same value. In addition, the calculation does not take into account the design of the road itself (solidified or unhardened).
