Determining the flood inundation extent is the foundation of disaster impact assessment. This dataset takes two typical snowmelt flood events as examples: one occurred from March 29 to 31, 2011 in the Manas River Basin on the northern slope of the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang, and the other occurred on April 20, 2010 in the Kaidu River Basin on the southern slope of the middle section of the Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang. Thematic maps of flood impact areas were produced based on Landsat 7 satellite images. These thematic maps can provide flood inundation extents for flood prevention and disaster mitigation, flood risk analysis and disaster impact assessment.
