ARES - ISCED-2013 Reference Framework (ISCED)

The ISCED-2013 framework includes all the codes and wordings of the International Classification of Types of Education as defined by UNESCO. This is the 2013 version, the latest version. In the event of a discrepancy between the information contained in the table and that of UNESCO, preference should be given to the latter's information. It is used to complement dataset information published by ARES, including SATURN datasets.

• Definition

The International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) is the framework used to compare education system statistics from countries around the world. It is an important tool to facilitate international comparisons, and to assess and monitor progress towards achieving international education goals. It is used to produce comparable data and indicators that reflect current education priorities and policies. ISCED covers all formal and non-formal education programmes offered at all stages of life. The first ISCED was developed by UNESCO in 1976. It was updated in 1997, 2011 and 2013.

ISCED is part of the international family of United Nations Economic and Social Classifications. It is the global reference classification for collecting, compiling and analysing internationally comparable education data. As education systems evolve, the framework needs to be updated to ensure that it reflects current structures. The UIS is responsible for maintaining, updating and revising the ISCED.

• Granularity

The Detailed Domain Code and Detailed Domain Label fields uniquely identify each row in the dataset. The large ISCED domain contains several specialised domains which themselves contain several detailed domains.

ISCED隶属于联合国经济与社会分类国际体系，是全球范围内用于收集、整合与分析可跨国际比对的教育数据的标准分类体系。随着教育体系不断发展，该框架也需持续更新以适配当前教育体系的架构变化。联合国教科文组织统计研究所（UIS）负责ISCED的维护、更新与修订工作。

• 粒度说明
数据集中的「细分领域编码」与「细分领域标签」字段可唯一标识每一行数据记录。ISCED大类领域下设多个专业子领域，而各专业子领域又包含若干细分领域。
