The goal of this project was to define the transcriptome profiles of human kisspeptin neurons, which play a central role in the regulation of reproduction. We adapted our immunoLCM-Seq method for use with post-mortem human brain tissue. In this approach, targeted neurons are labeled by immunohistochemistry, while newly developed RNA preservatives safeguard RNA integrity throughout the workflow. Each transcriptome profile comprises at least 15,000 individual transcripts expressed in the analyzed cell type. This method also enables direct comparisons between distinct neuronal populations, facilitating the identification of differentially expressed genes.
