Summary This dataset was generated as part of a study evaluating the feasibility, challenges, and outcomes of an active, door-to-door case-finding strategy for childhood developmental delay and motor impairment in an underserved urban sector of Cuenca, Ecuador (September 2022 – March 2023). The purpose of data collection was to identify children aged 2 months to 12 years with suspected developmental delay or motor impairment, including those excluded from official statistics (e.g., undocumented, homebound, or migratory families). Nature and Scope Geographic coverage: Urban sector, Cuenca, Azuay Province, Ecuador Population: 1,341 children identified, of which 703 underwent initial screening Sampling approach: Convenience sampling across 134 city blocks Time frame: September 2022 – March 2023 Data type: Quantitative survey responses; diagnostic assessment results File formats: CSV (primary dataset), XLSX (data dictionary), PDF (study protocol) De-identification: All direct personal identifiers removed; age reported in months (under 5 years) or years (5–12 years); geographic identifiers aggregated to block level Access: Publicly available in de-identified form; household-level data with potential indirect identifiers available upon reasonable request and ethics approval Potential Uses Explore epidemiological patterns of suspected developmental delay and motor impairment Study methodological challenges in multi-stage community screening programmes Train students and researchers in analysis of community-based health survey data Support meta-analyses on childhood disability detection
