Since snow cover is one of the most active elements of cryosphere, snow monitoring is important for blizzard assessment, hydrological forecasting and climate change studies. The network of automatic, continuous snow depth measuring stations on Tibetan Plateau has been established since September 2013, providing essential dataset in this area for snow monitoring and evaluation of snow cover products derived from satellites, especially the high spatial and temporal resolution FY-4A and Himawari-8/9 satellites. This network comprises 25 stations and each station is mainly equipped with the SR50A sonic ranging sensor and the Hydra Probe soil sensor that measuring snow depth, soil moisture and other soil properties in near real-time. The accuracy of snow depth and soil moisture in this dataset reaches about 1 cm and 3 % respectively.
