Magnetic fluctuation measurements from an internal Mirnov array in the STOR-M tokamak

A poloidal Mirnov array of 24 discrete magnetic probes was designed, fabricated and installed inside the STOR-M tokamak chamber wall. A dominant m = 2 poloidal mode is identified. During an induced minor disruption, high frequency components of up to 500 kHz, which are absent from external magnetic probe signals, are detected. The internal probe array will be used to study high-frequency magnetic fluctuations and high-mode structures under different operational scenarios for identification of disruption precursors and for studies of magnetic fluctuations during the current ramp-up phase.
