Burkholderia cepacia complex recA gene Sequencing

Sequencing of the recA gene was found to be an effective technique for species-level identification of Burkholderia cepacia complex. For bacterial identification, the sequence analysis of 16S and 23S rRNA is frequently used. However, for this complex, this approach can identify the genus but cannot differentiate to the species level. The conventional and automated phenotypic identification are the routine identification methods in healthcare facilities, but misidentifications have been reported using these techniques.
