Tannins are secondary compounds present in several plants of forage interest. Little is known about the ruminal adaptation mechanisms of native goats from semiarid regions to the tannins presence in the diet, even less when there is variation in the genetic group, and how it will affect productive factors such as feed digestibility. With that in mind, we aim with this study to identify the modulating effect of tannins on adaptive factors of lactating goats with different genetic groups, through the assessment of digestibility and intake of nutrient, ingestive behavior and rumen microbial abundance.
