Heat – Elderly in paved neighborhoods (2020)

This map shows the percentage of elderly people living in the most paved neighbourhoods of the province of Zuid-Holland. For this purpose, an age limit of 65 years has been arrested. Greening neighbourhoods with a lot of hardening can contribute to lowering the temperature, the infiltration of rainwater and the livability of the neighborhood. This card is intended to help organisations prioritise their efforts, by providing insight into which very hardened neighbourhoods many older people live in. You can then choose to use extra greening in these neighbourhoods, in order to avoid heat stress* among the elderly. The neighbourhoods in the province of Zuid-Holland that are less of 60 % hardened, and neighborhoods where less than 10 % of residents are over 65 years old are not shown on this map.
