The two attached Microsoft Excel files underpin the PhD thesis “Effectiveness of Seller Reputation as a Solution to Online Lemon Markets”: (1) the observational dataset, which contains information on seller reputation, sniping occurrence, product condition and key photo characteristics for iPhone X and iPhone XS devices auctioned on eBay.co.uk; (2) the experimental dataset, which comprises results from three online studies examining participants’ responses to variations in seller reputation, product condition, and key photo characteristics when buying iPhone devices in virtual eBay marketplaces -- (a) willingness to pay (WTP) under varying seller reputation and product condition, (b) frequency of choice under varying product condition, and (c) WTP, trust in the seller, and relative prior exposure to key photos under varying key photo characteristics. All data are shown before data transformation. The data files are embargoed until 14/10/2030
