In this study, we focused on the transcriptional profile of the exocarp in mature berries sampled from four PIWI varieties, two red and two white, along with their noble parental varieties. The aim of the work was to highlight potential molecular mechanisms underlying ontogenetic programs in plants that may be associated with the greater basal resistance of interspecific varieties compared to elite varieties.
