We describe the draft genome sequence of Vibrio sp. Evh12, a strain isolated from the temperate gorgonian coral Eunicella verrucosa showing in vitro antagonism towards Escherichia coli. The genome features a versatile repertoir of genes underlying iron and carbohydrate scavenging capacities besides a dual symbiotic / free-living life strategy.
