Our study uses a targeted method (TIPseq) to sequence LINE-1 insertion sites in matched Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) and normal samples. Our results show that LINE-1 retrotransposition contributes to the genetic evolution of PDAC and that somatic insertions are acquired discontinuously in gastrointestinal cancers.
