These plans are of National Emergency Schemes mainly in the Sydney Metropolitan Area and Newcastle. They relate to A.R.P. (Air Raid Precaution) and N.E.S. (National Emergency Services) Constructional Schemes for converting public buildings to emergency use; schools and public buildings used as A.R.P. First Aid Posts; buildings designated as N.E.S. Emergency Hospitals; and air raid shelters in schools, hospitals and other public buildings. The majority of the plans relate to schools, and public and private hospitals. They were drawn up by the Government Architect's Branch of the Department of Public Works. These plans are arranged in numerical order according to the N.E.S. number.
