(https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jhazmat.2022.130171).The purpose of this review is to highlight and indicate which issues should be considered in order to achieve effective biodegradation or phytoextraction of soils contaminated with heavy metals and petroleum hydrocarbons without harmful side effects. Four main topics are explained the effective concentration of rhamnolipids in soil, their potential phytotoxicity, biodegradability and interactions with soil.
