A stop device for a processing machine comprises a stop section which has a stop surface for attaching the stop device to an edge or side of a workpiece to be processed， and a coupling section for coupling the stop section to the processing machine. The stop section comprises at least two separate functional elements， a first functional element of the separate functional elements being designed for engagement with a guide rail and a second functional element of the separate functional elements having the stop surface.
