The site was evaluated by MoLAS in 1997. Subsequent excavation was undertaken on behalf of Union Railways (South) Ltd (URS) by the Canterbury Archaeological Trust (CAT) in advance of the construction of the channel Tunnel Rail Link in 1998. Archaeological features including post-holes, pits and ditches dating to the medieval period were recorded.
