[DREAL OCCITANIA] Middle Contracts

A river (or also lake, bay, table) contract is a watershed-scale response tool. Like the SAGE, it sets for this river water quality objectives, the improvement of the aquatic environment and the balanced management of water resources and provides operationally (programme of action over 5 years, designation of developers, method of financing, deadlines for the works, etc.) the methods of carrying out the studies and the work necessary to achieve these objectives. These contracts shall be signed between the partners concerned: prefect(s) of department(s), water agency and local authorities (general council, regional council, municipalities, inter-communal unions, etc.).
