Quantification of miRNA expression in heart and liver tissue of BN-Lx and SHR/Ola rats. miRNA expression in BN and SHR rats

Aim of the study was to quantify the miRNA expression in heart and liver tissue of BN-Lx and SHR/Ola rats. We assessed the expression of 680 annotated mature miRNAs. We performed a quantile based scaling to normalize read counts. Normalized miRNA counts were then compared between BN-Lx and SHR/Ola using a generalized linear model with the quasi-Poisson family object. The false discovery rate was controlled using the Benjamini-Hochberg procedure. To test for differential miRNA expression, we analyzed 3 (liver) and 4 (heart) biological replicates of each strain
