ASZ008 - As - A discussion of the status of As in the community

This dataset contains a discussion in Papuan Malay on the use, function, and vitality status of As in Asbaken village with Jamila Kapitan (born 1962), a native speaker of As. The session was recorded at some point between 11 and 14 January 2020, in Asbaken village (Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). As well as the audio file (wav), Elan (eaf) and text (txt) files are also provided, which include a translation of the conversation into English. There is no consent form associated with this item; consent is given orally at the beginning of the audio file. This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Grant from the University of Edinburgh.
