Wildfire in Beiras e Serra da Estrela, Portugal (2025-08-09)

On the 09 August 2025, a wildfire is reported to have affected Fregues, in Beiras e Serra da Estrela, Portugal. On 10 August 2025, after approximately 26 hours of continuous burning, the resources engaged included 500 personnel, 163 ground assets, and 6 aerial means. The estimated affected area have already exceeded 3,000 hectares. Adverse weather conditions and high wildfire activity have further aggravated the situation: on 10 August 105 new fire ignitions have been recorded, with 74% in the Northern region and 11% in the Central region. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping is requested to provide fire delineation extent and monitoring emergency mapping.
