NRS-4319 | Copies of letters sent to officials and private individuals

These letters are directed mainly to the Chief Gold Commissioner in Charge of the Northern Gold District transmitting returns of the number of miners' rights and business licences issued, pay abstracts and reports on the diggings and new rushes including details of average yield of diggings, population and the illicit sale of liquor. Information concerning changes in the gold escort route, the organisation of postal communication between Timbarra, Tenterfield and Grafton, and the calling of tenders for the building of a Court House and Commissioner's Quarters is also included in the series. Letters to individuals are mostly to wives tracing the whereabouts of husbands on the diggings.(4/7855). 1 vol.
