An urban transport area concerns the territory of a municipality or the territorial jurisdiction of a public establishment which has been entrusted with the task of organising public passenger transport. At the request of the mayor or the president of the public establishment, the representative of the State shall determine the establishment of the perimeter, after consulting the General Council in the event that the departmental plan is concerned. The urban transport perimeter may also include several adjacent municipalities which have decided to organise a public passenger transport service in public. The establishment and delimitation of this perimeter shall be determined by the representative of the State at the request of the mayors of the municipalities concerned after the opinion of the General Council.

城市交通区域，系指由承担公共客运组织任务的市镇所辖领地，抑或受委托开展公共客运组织工作的公共机构的管辖疆域。应市长或该公共机构负责人的请求，国家代表应在涉及部门规划的情形下征询总委员会意见后，确定该交通区域的边界设立事宜。[.]
城市交通边界范围亦可纳入若干已决议以公共方式运营公共客运服务的相邻市镇。该边界的设立与划定，应由国家代表应相关市镇市长的请求，并在征询总委员会意见后予以确定。
