This dataset is used to generate all results and tables for the paper \"Women in parliament and maternal mortality: longitudinal analysis of 156 countries during 1990-2010\" by Sonia Bhalotra, Damian Clarke, Joseph F. Gomes and Atheendar Venkataramani (authors in alphabetical order). Analysis from the paper suggests that greater representation of women in national legislatures is associated with large reductions in maternal mortality.
