SERK as a co-receptor, plays diverse roles in both immunity and development in angiosperm. BIRs interact with SERKs under resting conditions, negatively regulating SERK-mediated pathways. In Marchantia polymorpha, SERK-BIR module is evolutionary conserved and MpBIR interacts with MpSERK. However, the functional relationship between MpSERK and MpBIR is unknown.
