资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. These volumes contain information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any occupation entered into on leaving school is also recorded; this last column is also used to record the name or location of the school to which a pupil may have transferred.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission. Until July, 1955 these entries are numbered in two continuous sequences, one for boys and one for girls. With that year a new method of numbering opens a new register, and thenceforth new sequences for boys and girls are commenced at the start of each school year. The series appears originally to have consisted of three register volumes – one covering the period from the opening of the school until 1911, containing boys’ enrolments 1-59 and girls’ enrolments 1-54, which seems to be no longer extant; a second, containing boys’ enrolments 60-230 and girls’ enrolments 55-232, concluding with the enrolments for March-July, 1955; and a third, beginning with duplicate entries for the enrolments of March-July, 1955 and continuing with the new numbering system until the closure of the school in 1970.
